Spire, Mountains, and Clouds
I have photographed this area extensively since the 1980s but never previously saw dense fog here. At
slightly higher elevations it was like a foggy day
in New England. As the fog began to dissipate at this elevation, it
broke up into very low hanging clouds that revealed the background mountains
between them. Without any nearby forms to work with I used a 300mm prime
lens to compose this photograph. With the scene changing quickly and constantly,
I captured many photographs over a brief period. It also got windy, blurring some
photographs due to camera vibration. I thought this photograph was the best
of the group. Looking at it reminds me of the spectacular and unusual
show we were treated to that evening.
