A Pleasant View, West Elk Mountains, Colorado

After several cloudless days I was happy for a change in the weather. Fast
moving clouds casting shadows on the rugged landscape produced a constantly
changing scene on this stormy September day. With the foreground foliage near
peak fall color and the West Elk Mountains shrouded in dramatic clouds, I waited
for some fast moving clouds overhead to shade the nearby ridge and produce a
dark wedge dividing the scene. Located in west-central Colorado, the West Elk
Mountains are about 26 miles from this vantage point.
