Morning in Mesquite Flat Dunes
This photograph was taken on the first calm morning after two days of ferocious
winds. The
Mesquite Flat Sand Dunes are situated at the northern end of Death valley and
they are almost completely
surrounded by mountains. They are are among the most photogenic sand dunes to be
found anywhere but with a maximum height of about 140 feet the dunes are
relatively small. A
more distant photograph of these dunes captured about five years earlier can be
seen here.
