American Bittern, Stealth Walking

The American Bittern shown here was photographed as it walked with unbelievable stealth along a waterway. Its motions were so slow and smooth that it made absolutely no ripples on the water's surface. The bittern's eyes are focused on the water, watching for small passing fish that it nabs with lightning speed. This particular American Bittern was an incredibly successful hunter.
