Young Bull Moose Resting, Grand Teton National Park
The bull moose (Alces alces) in this photograph is a bit too young to offer serious
competition to the larger and older bulls, but he is far from small and in
another year or two will be a serious contender for "king of the meadow" and the
favors of the ladies. Moose are the largest extant species in the deer family
and typically inhabit boreal and mixed deciduous forests in the Northern
Hemisphere.
